The Heriz rug - Best new wool for long pleasure

The Persian Heriz is an oriental rug from the city of Heris in the northeast of the country. These rugs are mainly known for their excellent wool quality. Their knotting is usually somewhat coarser compared to other Persian rugs, but due to the virgin wool used, they are extremely durable and hard-wearing. Also, their price is usually more affordable than, for example, a genuine Isfahan rug. These features make them excellent as a utility rug with a long life.

Vivid colors and striking ornamentation

What is special about Heriz is its unique ornament that takes up almost the entire rug. Unlike most others, however, it is formed by geometric and angular shapes rather than rounded floral ornaments. Some master knotters in the nearby city of Tabriz were inspired by this unusual design. The resulting rug is called Tabriz Naksha rug.

Due to their enormous resistance, some have reached a great age and are already traded as antique rugs. The value is measured by the condition, age and pattern of the rug. Especially in the USA these are very popular.
