Moud - a small town with a cherished knotting tradition.
The town of Moud is located near the eastern border of Iran and has only about 5000 inhabitants. Nevertheless, the area of the town has been inhabited for almost 1500 years, since the first nomads settled in the area in the 7th century AD. Moud or Mud rug is also the name given to rugs from the larger region of Birdshand. They all have in common the knotting in the Senneh knot and similar coloration.
Style and color of Moud rugs
A Moud rug is usually knotted from a beige base color combined with reddish and bluish patterns. Due to the delicacy of the constantly repeating mahi pattern, the rug has a calm character, which is interrupted only by a medallion, usually round.
